HireBOB Alternatives in 2026: AI Employees or an AI Agent Platform?
HireBOB has done something many AI vendors in fitness have not: it has won the trust of UK leisure trusts. Abbeycroft Leisure, South Downs Leisure, Angus Alive, LED Community Leisure, Brio Leisure and Active Leeds all publish named results with HireBOB’s “AI employees”.
So the question for operators comparing alternatives is not whether HireBOB works. It is whether hiring AI one role at a time is the right model for an estate that will eventually want sales, voice, member services, retention and AI search visibility running together.
The short version
HireBOB sells AI “employees” for fitness and leisure: a Sales Advisor, a Customer Service agent, a Fitness Coach and a Retention Manager. Each is configured and priced as an additional hire. It is built by BOB AI Ltd, a UK company founded inside the Move Technologies venture studio, and it works across web chat, WhatsApp, Messenger, SMS and email.
Keepme Antares is an AI agent platform for multisite fitness operators. It runs five specialist agents under one contract with every agent included: the sales agent, Nova; the voice agent, Clarion; the member services agent, Atlas; the AI search visibility agent, Beacon; and the retention agent, Ember. All five share Pulse, the intelligence layer that produces the Keepme Score. Keepme has built AI exclusively for fitness operators since 2018.
The practical differences come down to four things: phone calls, when retention starts, what connects the agents, and how the bill grows as you add capability.
Where the two products differ
Phone calls
HireBOB’s published channels are messaging channels. Its G-Cloud listing describes “omnichannel messaging across web, WhatsApp, Messenger, SMS, and email”, and none of its product pages describe an agent that answers inbound phone calls. Replify’s buyer’s guide describes HireBOB as “focused on chat and text-based AI agents”.
For many leisure trusts that is fine, because chat is where most enquiries now arrive. But the phone still rings at reception, and the calls that go unanswered after hours are often the highest-intent ones. On Antares, Clarion answers inbound calls 24/7, handles questions on hours, services and pricing, books tours and hands off to staff when needed, on the same platform as the messaging agents.
When retention starts
HireBOB’s Retention Manager is explicit about its trigger: “The moment a cancellation or freeze request is submitted, your retention manager steps in.” Its case studies show that this works. Abbeycroft reports its cancellation prevention rate rising from 1% to 5%, and South Downs Leisure reports cancellation recovery doubling from 30% to 60%.
Ember on Antares handles that conversation too. The difference is that Ember can start earlier. Pulse scores every member continuously, and when the Keepme Score moves a member into amber, Ember can reach them weeks before a cancellation form exists. A save at the point of request is valuable. Reaching the member before they have decided is worth more.
What connects the agents
In May 2026 HireBOB launched Bob 2.0, which it calls “The Business Optimisation Brain”: a layer that connects signals across sales, service, retention and marketing and recommends actions at business level. It is a meaningful step and worth watching.
Pulse works at a different level. It analyses every conversation on Antares and generates the Keepme Score, a 0 to 100 score attached to every prospect from first enquiry and every member from join date. The score belongs to the individual, and every agent can read it. That is what lets the sales agent prioritise warm prospects and the retention agent find drifting members before they ask to leave.
AI search visibility
Neither HireBOB’s website nor its G-Cloud listing describes any product for AI search visibility. That matters more each quarter. Keepme’s audit of 901 fitness operators across 27 countries found a global average AI search readiness score of 21 out of 100, and 49 operators were blocking AI crawlers without knowing it, most through a Cloudflare setting. On Antares, Beacon audits how AI assistants read your sites and generates what is needed to close the gap. It is included when operators activate Nova.
How the bill grows
HireBOB does not publish prices on its website, but its UK G-Cloud 15 pricing document (October 2025) does. Pricing is tiered by estate size and covers the first AI employee, including one trigger and one communication channel:
10 to 50 sites: £3,000 setup and £3,000 a month, with 5,000 messages a month
2 to 9 sites: £3,000 setup and £2,000 a month, with 3,000 messages a month
Single site: £3,000 setup and £1,000 a month, with 1,000 messages a month
Each additional AI employee, trigger or channel is an add-on, and estates over 50 sites are quoted on request.
That structure is transparent, and it suits an operator who wants one role. It also means every new capability is a new line on the invoice and a new configuration project. Antares works the other way round: one contract, every agent included, so activating Ember or Clarion after Nova is an operational decision rather than a commercial one.
Side by side
| Keepme Antares | HireBOB |
Model | AI agent platform, five specialist agents | AI “employees” hired by role |
Building AI for fitness since | 2018 | BOB AI Ltd incorporated 2024, built inside Move Technologies |
Commercial model | One contract, every agent included | Setup fee plus monthly fee per AI employee, with add-ons |
Inbound phone calls | Clarion, 24/7 | Not published |
Messaging channels | SMS, WhatsApp, web chat, Facebook, Instagram, email | Web chat, WhatsApp, Messenger, SMS, email |
Sales and lead follow-up | Nova | Sales Advisor |
Member services | Atlas | Customer Service agent |
Retention trigger | Keepme Score, weeks before cancellation, plus save | Cancellation or freeze request |
Intelligence layer | Pulse, member-level Keepme Score | Bob 2.0, business-level insights (launched May 2026) |
AI search visibility | Beacon | None published |
Fitness coaching and health referral | Not a dedicated agent | Fitness Coach |
Strongest references | Virgin Active, Serco Leisure, Fitness First, Everlast Gyms, Gymbox | UK leisure trusts and charities |
HireBOB’s Fitness Coach, which supports health-referral and active lifestyle journeys, has no direct equivalent on Antares. For trusts with large exercise referral programmes, that is a genuine point in HireBOB’s favour.
Evidence worth weighing
Both companies publish named results, which is the right standard for this category: named operator, named person, specific metric.
Keepme’s include:
Anil Chugani, Managing Director, Fitness First Singapore: a 185% increase in lead-to-tour bookings, a 16% uplift in tour attendance and a 49% improvement in tour-to-sale conversion, achieved without any other major changes or investments.
Amy Schafer, National Sales Manager, Fitness Cartel: almost 60,000 conversations and about 450 tours booked out of hours in three months.
In UK public leisure, Antares runs at Serco Leisure, Tees Active, Horizon Leisure, Burnley Leisure & Culture and Coral Leisure, alongside commercial operators such as Virgin Active, Everlast Gyms and Gymbox.
Questions to ask before you choose
Will we need voice? If phone enquiries matter to your sites, check which agent answers them and whether it shares data with your messaging agents.
When does retention first engage? At the cancellation or freeze request, or from a member-level score weeks earlier?
What does the third role cost? Model your next two years of capability, not just the first hire.
Is the intelligence member-level or business-level? Both are useful. Only one tells an agent which member to call today.
What are you doing about AI search? Ask how each vendor helps ChatGPT and Gemini describe your sites accurately.
